Terms and Conditions
We try to protect our puppies as best we can and only sell them after vetting the new owners thoroughly. However, even this is sometimes not enough and we therefore now have a sales contract, which must be signed before we'll part with one of our babies.
This contract is subject to change but it will be essentially the same as the one we ask all our clients to sign.
We are fundamentally opposed to the early spay/neuter procedure which occurs before 8 weeks of age, but we are equally opposed to the indiscriminate breeding of untested labradoodles. We hope this contract offends no-one whilst representing a suitable compromise.
PUPPY SALE AGREEMENT 2009
Terms and Conditions
Please note that your puppy is sold to you as a pet / companion animal and no guarantees are made regarding suitability for any particular sporting activity, breeding potential or exhibition.
The Spay / Neuter Contract
You must understand that by signing this contract you agree to neuter/spay the puppy before it reaches two years of age or (if a bitch) before her third season. You will supply Katie Rourke with a veterinarian's letter by recorded mail as proof of a neuter/spay. If you fail to neuter/spay this puppy and provide proof to Katie Rourke by two years of age, rights and ownership of the dog will automatically terminate and revert back to Katie Rourke who may immediately assume possession of the dog. You will pay for Katie’s reasonable solicitors fees for recovery of the dog. Furthermore you fully understand that this spay/neuter agreement is an agreement that this dog will not produce a litter of puppies either as purposely bred or by accidental breeding. You also agree that should this puppy not be neutered/spayed that you will return said puppy back to Katie Rourke with no refund.
OR
The Breeding Contract
You understand that this puppy may only be bred if the following conditions are met: it is over two years old and has passed its Optigen Eye Test (genotype Normal/Clear), an annual eye exam by a qualified/specialist vet (Unaffected), have a BVA Hip Score of less than 13 with no single point over 3, and have a BVA Elbow Score of 0:0, prove Normal/Clear (not a carrier) for Hypothyroidism and Von Willebrands Disease, all of which you shall pay for. Your puppy’s mate must have passed these tests as a minimum requirement and even in this case you will not choose a mate without the approval of Katie Rourke, who will assist you with every step of the process.
Health and Physical / Mental Development
Every effort has been made to ensure that your puppy is healthy in body and mind, and is sold subject to it being understood that as a living creature it is impossible to predict how it will continue to develop, especially as regards behaviour, over which you will have the principal influence.
Both your puppy’s parents are typical examples of their breeds, happy and healthy with excellent temperaments. The puppies have been reared with care in a busy family environment and exposed to all normal household activities.
Your puppy has been checked by my own Veterinarian from Alma Road Veterinary Hospital, Windsor, at XX weeks of age. However, this was purely to satisfy me that all puppies are in the best of health prior to going to their new homes. You are advised most strongly that you should still take your puppy to your own Veterinarian within five days for a complete health check, and as part of its ongoing socialisation. We would NOT advise you to have your puppy vaccinated at this first visit (should you choose to follow a chemical route) as the puppy will already have encountered enough stresses in adjusting to its new environment etc.
Should your Veterinarian discover a health problem (excluding vaccine damage) which is not attributable to its journey home (travel sickness) or change in food or water (tummy upset), and this renders him/her unfit for sale as a companion, a full refund of the purchase price (minus any deposit paid) will be made upon production of your Vet’s Report. In this instance to prevent further distress to the puppy, it must be returned to us immediately (certainly no more than 24 hours) after your vet has pronounced it unfit. You will receive your refund as soon as we have a copy of your vet's report. Please note that no refund will be given after 7 days, so it should be an urgent priority for you to have your puppy checked by your own vet before this period expires.
As the breeder of this puppy you need to know that we will ALWAYS take him/her back should it ever become necessary for you to re-home him/her, for whatever reason and no matter what age your puppy or dog has attained! Please be aware that by signing this contract you are promising to contact us first should that painful eventuality ever occur to you. Should it become necessary for your dog to be put down for any reason, please let us know first before going ahead, as we have an ongoing responsibility throughout their lifetime to any dogs which we have bred and we are always available to help advise and support owners wherever possible.
Insurance
As you leave, your puppy will be covered by Petplan insurance. Our Petplan Breeder Registration Number is: 1300027171. It is advisable to continue with insurance beyond the free four week period for the first year at least – during which time accidents are most likely to happen.
Worming and Feeding
Your puppy will be wormed at 28 days old and again at 47 days using a veterinary prescribed wormer. It will require worming again at 66 days and then as recommended by your vet.
You have been provided with the type of food that your puppy has been reared on, which is of high quality and is species appropriate. Please note that some meals will include bone; your puppy will consume some or all of the bone, which is natural. Meals containing bone should always be given RAW and must of course be offered under supervision (please read the Ian Billinghurst book supplied with your puppy). We do not recommend that you switch to commercial dog food, as you are lucky enough to have purchased a 3rd generation natural diet puppy. However, if you have to, it is advisable to change gradually to minimise the risk of stomach upset. Please do not overfeed; your puppy should be kept fit, not fat.
Puppies should be fed 4 meals a day to about 3 months of age, then 3 meals to about 5-6 months, reducing to twice a day at about a year old.
Training
Please read carefully all the literature provided with your puppy and remember that you can always contact us for any advice on care and training. Your concerns are our concerns.
We strongly recommend attending training classes as soon as you are able, and ensure that everyone in the home follows the same rules regarding your puppy’s care and training. Your puppy was introduced to the Clicker Training method at five weeks of age. If you can continue with this method you are much more likely to be successful.
As this is our 5th litter of 3rd generation natural diet / vaccine free Labradoodle puppies, we are interested to be able to make comparisons between them and commercially-fed Labradoodles. We would therefore be grateful if you could keep in touch with me and let me know of the eventual demise of your dog.
Finance
To secure your Barleors puppy we require that you pay a non-refundable deposit of £250.00 when you visit the litter and that the balance has cleared in our bank by the time the puppy is seven weeks old - regardless of the date you intend to collect your puppy. We are happy to board and continue to train and socialise your puppy beyond eight weeks of age if circumstances dictate that you cannot collect your puppy at or before this time, but please note that we charge £10.00 per day for this additional service.
And Finally
We hope your puppy will be a valued member of your family for a long, happy, healthy lifetime.
