Day 4

Flossy's fertilised eggs will float freely in her uterus and uterine tube for the next 20 days. These fertilised eggs are called ovums and by today they have divided into two cells!

Saturday 7th March
Day 5
They have divided again and now contain 4 cells
Sunday 8th March
Day 6
They are now 8 cells big!
Monday 9th March
Day 7
From today each ovum is a mass of cells and is called a "Morula"
Tuesday and Wednesday 10th and 11th March
Day 8 & 9
The Morula's pass down the uterine tube and then into the uterus.
Tuesday 17th March
Day 15
The "Blastocysts" (as they are now called) are free floating in the uterus. Today I booked Sam Wilkinson to scan Flossy. She can be scanned between day 28 and day 35. Sam runs a Clinic at Wey Farm but for an extra charge she will bring her scanner to your home. So she's coming here on April 1st!
Thursday 19th March
Day 17
Placentas will begin to develop from the yolk sacs.

Can you detect a "pregnant" glow?
These delightful pics were taken 13-15 April at Alderley Farm (thanks Anne and Eric!!) and Virginia Waters

Sunday 22nd March
Day 20
From today, Blastocysts will have become Embroyos and start to implant in the horns of the uterus. The Central Nervous System will start to develop and tomorrow sees the start of their tiny brains and spinal cords developing. Flossy is being extra loving to everyone and Harry, my reliable predictor of all pregnancies, is drooling, purring and kneeding anyone who will sit still long enough!

Rosemount Veterinary Centre

The Eye Exam
The BVA Annual Eye Test is a non-invasive and non-stressful experience for all concerned. About twenty minutes after drops were put into her eyes, Flossy was examined by Jeff Yellowley at the Rosemount Veterinary Centre in West Byfleet. He's an expert in this field - your regular vet can't usually do the BVA eye test. Today is Flossy's 6th Birthday! Where does the time go?
Thursday 26th March
Day 24
The pregnant dog's diet is critical and never more so than now, while the puppies are being "made".

Sunday, March 22 - Sunday, March 29, 2009

Days 20 - 27
I've started feeding Flossy three smaller meals a day as she seems to be experiencing "Morning sickness" right now. She's been a bit apathetic for the last couple of days.
Friday, March 27, 2009
Day 25
Only five more days til Flossy's Scan. I can hardly wait!
Monday, March 30, 2009
Day 28
Morning sickness is over! Flossy is eating everything in sight and clearly ravenous!
Wednesday, April 1st, 2009
Day 30
Flossy was scanned today. I have Wilkinson's come out to do this for me as I feel happier having her "stress-free" at home. Flossy is definitely pregnant!

Day 34
You can just about see Flossy is pregnant now - though several people have obviously just thought she is "fat"! Her energy levels have returned to normal as you can see in the second pic below!

Day 40
As if to prove to us that the pregnancy isn't slowing her up one bit, Flossy caught a rabbit this week... and much to the delight of the chldren, devoured it head first on site. Just in case the rabbit had worms or was carrying tapeworm infected fleas, Flossy was wormed with Droncit this morning. I loath using chemicals, but sometimes the benefits outweigh the risks.
